Maui's ‘Iaao Valley State Monument, a Hawaii state park with paved walking trail and botanical garden

‘Iao Valley State Monument

Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii — Parking area at ‘Iao Valley State Monument, a Hawaii State Park.

The ‘Iao Valley was the site of the battle of Kepaniwai where the forces of Kamehameha I conquered the Maui army in 1790.

At bottom is the park restroom and the beginning of the paved walking trail, which provides a scenic viewpoint of Kuka’emoku (‘Iao Needle), and meanders though an ethnobotanical garden adjacent to ‘Iao stream.
