Andy Griffith's Mayberry: Wally's Service

Mount Airy, North CarolinaWally’s Service Station at 625 S. Main St., built in 1937, is the real-life inspiration for “Wally’s Filling Station” on TV’s The Andy Griffith Show, where cousins Gomer Pyle and Goober Pyle both worked.

Andy Griffith was born and raised in Mount Airy, which provided at least some of the basis for the fictional community of Mayberry.
